This Sunday is Mother’s Day and I’d like to extend a big hug, thank you and congrats to every ‘Mom’ out there. Being a mom is a hard job. It’s messy, the hours are long and sometimes, it makes you the least popular person in the house. The world is built on the strength, tenacity and love of Moms; it is a better place because of them. So if you are a Mom, give yourself a little pat on the back. If you are blessed to still have your Mom in your life, hug here and love her and thank her. If you know someone who is missing their mom, make sure to give them an extra long hug and if you know someone who is ‘like a mom’ include them in your gratitude and celebration.
Still not sure what to get or do for your Mom’s special day? Here are a few great last minute ideas.
It can be quite expensive to purchase a ready-made floral arrangement but if you are lucky enough to have your Mom local, why not make her one yourself. I love this idea of putting a vase within a vase so you can add lemon (or lime or orange…) slices.
These gorgeous little arrangements in tea cups are like two gifts in one. I think an arrangement in a vintage tea cup or tea pot would be so sweet.
A terrarium would be a fantastic gift as it will last longer than fresh flowers, can be made to fit the recipient’s personality and is low maintenance. It’s also just really fun to make so you might want to do one for yourself while you’re at it. Check out my post on how to make your own terrific terrarium HERE.
These little button ‘flowers’ would be too cute in a terracotta pot of mums or daisies. What a bright and happy addition to a porch or patio.
This gift idea from Pretty Providence is such a cute way to package some pampering. Change it up for summer by switching the slippers to flip flops and adding a bright summery nail polish, sun block and moisturizing lip color.
You know the brunch lines will be long on Mother’s Day so why not set up a delightful little brunch on the patio. Less dress-up, less fuss, and more time to chat and enjoy each other’s company. Of course you can go all out and bake something wonderful like this Blueberry French Toast Bake from Life Made Sweeter or this amazing looking Spinach and Bacon Hash Brown Quiche from Grandbaby Cakes.
But it’s just as delightful to make some simple yogurt parfait cups with fruit and granola or beautiful baked goods from a local bakery. Add a pretty little table cloth, a pot of flowers and I promise you will bring a smile to her face. Of course you can always add a little bubbly to top things off. Doesn’t this Rhubarb 75 look fabulous!
If you prefer an alcohol-free option try a yummy shrub added to sparkling water or ginger ale. This makes an equally beautiful and delicious beverage. Watch for the recipe and how to make a ‘shrub’ in my post THIS THURSDAY.
Sharing is caring!
My inner muse is quite today. I keep calling to her; hoping she will grace…

Thank you Tania. I guess the things that are the hardest work are also the most rewarding. Happy Mother’s Day
