Monday Muse: Boho Inspired Decor

Good Monday morning everyone. I hope you had a chance to get creative this weekend. I’ve been busy perusing my favorite blogs and Pinterest for a little boho decor inspiration. I love elements of this design style; the use of natural materials and plants, the pops of color, the mix of old and new. I’m incorporating many of these elements into the final phases of my craft room makeover. Here are just a few fun boho finds.

Textiles and Ceramics from Loom + Kiln

To me, nothing says boho like a bright & beautiful Kilim, Turkish or Persian rug. Loom + Kiln introduces new rugs every Wednesday (9:oo a.m. MST) and they are truly magnificent. The site also offers beautiful ceramics, pillows and baskets from around the world. Just looking through their website is pure inspiration.

Boho On A Budget

DIY Anthropologie Tasseled Jacare Pillow Knockoff

I so love this blog! Shrimp Salad Circus (that’s the blog’s name) is fun and full of creative ideas like this Anthropology Inspired Tassel Pillow. How cute is that!… and way more affordable than Anthro’s price. Plus you can do any color scheme you want. She also has an adorable rainbow cat scratch DIY that she just posted last week. It’s not boho but if you have a kitty I think it’s a must make.

House Plant Heaven

There are plants o’plenty in boho decor. Check out this article: Best Houseplant Trends 2018 from Domino. I love the Calathea plant! I saw this plant at Lowe’s the other day and it has the most beautiful colors. The underside is almost magenta!

As you may recall, I have a love/hate relationship with my house plants. You can read all about it in my Terrific Terrariums post. I’m happy to report that with the combination of Gnat Nix and Bonide the gnats are gno more.

Macrame

I’m pretty sure…somewhere, it is written that in order for a room to be truly boho it must have macrame. Don’t you think? At minimum it must have woven baskets, right? If I were CRAZY adventurous I would tackle this fabulous wall decor I found on Pinterest (can’t locate the original pinner).

Almost like a curtain, this dream catcher design is made up of many dream catchers with different loop styles attached together. Then a curtain of laces, feathers and beads are attached below.

Although it is truly beautiful, I think this hanging planter project from heylilahey is much more my speed.

or look at this boho beauty from World Market. It’s macrame AND a basket all in one…SWEET!

I think one of those Calathea plants would look awesome in this. Or maybe the little fiddle leaf fig I bought last week…hmmm.

I hope you enjoyed this bit of boho inspiration. What elements do you think are essential to bohemian influenced decor?

I love the new rug! Guess I’m a little big boho–plants, vintage Oriental rugs, old treasures. I can remember doing my own macramé too. Can’t wait to see your finished craft room.

Thanks Vikki. I totally think interior decor and craft fads just get recycled. They go away for a decade or two and then you see them popping up everywhere. It’s fun to see how they get re-interpreted.
