Organize Your Crafty Space: Ribbon & Floss

There is something so satisfying about finding the perfect place to put something. I think  life likes to throw all these messy things at us and we scramble to make sense of it all and organize it in a way that we can live with. Organizing my crafty stuff is like therapy; it’s like a small part of my life that I have complete control over and I can make it tidy and beautiful. We all have our stress relief. Some people do crossword puzzles, others meditate or exercise… I even knew someone that ironed pillowcases. I organize. In reality, I think I get as much joy out of organizing my crafty space as I do creating in it so when I found these fun wood boxes at Home Goods, I was thrilled. I loved their rustic look, their fun labels and all their wonderful little compartments. I knew they would make a perfect home for my embroidery flosses and ribbons.

Messy Ribbon and Floss Storage

THE BEFORE

Once upon an organized time, I had a system to my ribbon organization but remember that creative chaos I talked about? Well, it took over and this mess is the aftermath. The bonus to my previous organization attempt; however, was that most of my ribbons and floss were organized on pieces of cardboard, by color. This made this crafty organization all the more zen-ful as all the tedious work was done.

All I had to do was put on some good music, grab a cool glass of iced tea and put pretty things in perfect places. Ahhhhhhh. Happy. Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy. Joy.

Your organized ribbon and floss looks so nice in those cute boxes! I like organizing too, sometimes I get my craft studio looking so cute and organized that I don’t want to mess it up by actually “using” those supplies! lol!

Thanks Tania. I know what you mean…but it usually doesn’t last for long and then I get a crazy idea for some elaborate craft project = creative chaos!
