Craft Happy in the Southwest

Hi there! My name is JoElle and this is my very first blog post! I have to say it is a bit surreal. For years, I dreamed of writing a blog focusing on all things handcrafted, homemade and heartfelt. Today, I did it. I took the plunge. I pressed the ‘GO’ button. It reminds of a quote I saw at behappy.me; “Allow yourself to be a beginner. No one starts off being excellent.” I put off starting the blog for a variety of reasons (excuses); My photography wasn’t good enough, I didn’t know anything about designing websites and (my personal favorite) I’m really not that interesting. What it comes right down to though is it’s hard (and a little bit scary) to allow yourself to be a beginner. So consider this my warning – my disclaimer of potential blog blunders. My photos will not be fantastic. I WILL misspell things and use unorthodox punctuation. My links may not always work and in all likelihood there will be parts of my blog that are a little funky…like don’t quite look or act right funky. BUT, I am here and I plan on having fun. I hope this blog fosters a positive community of creative souls. The topics will definitely include all kinds of crafty goodness like sewing and papercrafts, art and DIY for the home. There will be recipe posts because…well, because food is delicious and is a big part of how we celebrate. I live in beautiful Arizona so I imagine there will be posts about plants or critters and I’m a Mom to two adult children, a daughter of aging parents and a domestic CEO so there will be posts about everyday stuff too. I’m so excited to see how the blog evolves and I welcome any comments and suggestions – as soon as I figure out how to let you do that. Well, if you are still with me at this point in the post, I thank you. I hope you can tolerate my newbie-ness (pretty sure that’s not a word) and share in my excitement for crafts, the home and living a creative life.
