Everybody’s Gotta’ Clean-Up Sometime

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite treats was a little bit of Coca-Cola poured over an ice cube in a Dixie cup. It felt so grown-up to drink Coca-Cola. I’d sip it slowly – my 2.5 ounces of fizzy delight. It cured all skinned-knees, hurt feelings and made even the most dreaded clean-up worthwhile.

Monday: On a Clean-up Mission

Walking into my craft room had become dangerous! A combination of stray straight pins, clipped jewelry wire and boxes of rocks formed a tricky path to my cluttered desk. I pulled myself up to the one almost imperceptible piece of open space on my table and began to plan this week’s blog post. After much deliberation and a healthy dose of denial topped with procrastination, I admitted the truth. It was time to clean-up. Absolutely nothing more could happen in this room until it was clean. So, peeling bits of polymer clay crumbs from my forearm I put on some music and cleaned until the sun went down.

Tuesday: Good-Bye Rock Registry

On Tuesday, I popped open the laptop and once again began working on the blog. I checked comments and emails where I saw a message from the people who know stuff & things at WordPress. It said I had a ‘fatal error’ with the plug-in I use for the Rock Registry. There is never a good scenario that includes the word ‘fatal’. Never.

Fast forward through several hours of sailor-like language and frustration. Ultimately, the best action was to delete the Rock Registry. There were only a couple of entries so even though I thought it was a fab idea – it obviously hadn’t caught on. Never fear though, there is still the YOU ROCK button on the Main Menu with lots of great rock painting tutorials.

Wednesday: Blog Clean-Up and NEW Sharing Buttons

Through all my problem-solving efforts on Tuesday I realized the blog was in serious need of a technical clean-up. So. . . on the day I normally edit and finalize my post photos, I spent four more hours purging, fixing and organizing the behind-the-scenes part of A Crafty Composition. Consequently, I discovered the plug-in responsible for my weekly back-ups had deactivated itself – IN MAY! Yep, not one blog content back-up since May. Whew! Can you say – LUCKY!

I also added some really cool new social network share buttons on the blog. Now you can Tweet (Twitter), Like (Facebook), Pin (Pinterest) and E-Mail a Friend any of the blog posts with a simple click of a button. I’m really excited about that – Sharing is Caring!! Look for the buttons on the bottom of each post and floating on the left side of your screen

Thursday: I Got Nothing

And now it’s Thursday – the day I normally publish the weekly blog post. I have a clean(er) desk, a fixed and fluffed web-site and . . . a Dixie-cup-sized treat of Coca-Cola
