Mom's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
I grew up on these cookies and they are wonderfully tasty; crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Enjoy
Ingredients

cup
brown sugar, packed
3/4
cup
white sugar

cup
Crisco Shortening (plain)
2
eggs, slightly beaten
1
tsp
vanilla extract
1
tsp
hot water
1.5
cups
sifted all purpose flour
1
tsp
baking soda
1
tsp
salt

cups
old fashioned oatmeal
1.5 - 2
cups
chocolate chips
1
cup
pecans or walnuts
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare a cookie tray with parchment paper.
Cream together the two sugars and shortening until creamy
Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and hot water. Stir.
Add the sifted flour, baking soda and salt. Stir.
Add the oatmeal, chocolate chips and nuts. Stir.
Drop rounded tablespoon sized dough onto the prepared cookie tray. The more dough you have the more it will spread out/flatten.
Bake on the center rack for about 12 minutes. Remove from cookie tray when cool.
