Happy Monday! St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner so here’s a pinch of Irish inspiration to encourage some good luck.
Did you know this saying was actually coined in the U.S. during the gold rush? It came about because many of the most successful miners were of Irish or Irish American decent. It was said with a bit of sarcasm though – as if the miner’s success had nothing to do with talent or hard work but just sheer luck.
The shamrock is one of the most symbolic icons of Irish luck but there are many other good luck characters from around the world. Here’s a darling illustration by The Tiny Totem art team; Good Luck from A to Z.
I don’t really decorate for St. Patty’s but a mini garland of felt shamrocks would be too cute. Here’s an easy tutorial from Mollymoo.
You can’t think of Ireland without thinking about the potato. According to the International Potato Center (yes, there is such a thing), there are over 4,000 edible varieties of the potato. No matter which variety you use, Cafe Delight’s recipe for Garlic Butter Parmesan Smashed Potatoes is amazing!
Ireland is also known for beautiful ceramics and pottery. I’m absolutely loving these succulent vases by Danu Ceramics out of Dublin. Ruth Power is the artist and I love her use of amazing color in her pottery. She’s got an Etsy Shop here and you can read all about Danu Ceramics here.
Vivien O’Malley designs and makes her gorgeous pieces out of this quintessential Irish studio in Waterford. Doesn’t this look like the most amazing place to create!
I dearly love these stunning asymmetrical bowls from Vivien’s URCHIN Collection. Don’t miss her ERODED Collection; it is pure perfection!
I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.
