Celebrating One Year!

It’s hard to believe but A Crafty Composition is celebrating ONE YEAR this week! That’s 66 posts, 450 images, 316 comments and a huge learning curve. I knew nothing about blogging or writing code before I started A Crafty Composition. I simply wanted to share my love of crafting and to perhaps earn a part-time income from a job I could do anywhere (because we’ve moved 13 times in 32 years…yikes!). Well, I’ve learned so much in this first year; from how to create and troubleshoot a website to writing concise and (hopefully) entertaining content. I have learned about photography, lighting and more recently, making videos. I’ve also learned that people are kind and excited to stand back with pride and declare, “I Made That!” I hope you have learned something from this blog too. I hope it has encouraged you to be creative and try new techniques; to be a maker of useful, delicious and pretty things.

Looking Forward

While the first year was all about developing the look, feel and functionality of A Crafty Composition, the second year (hopefully) will be about growth. More specifically, gaining subscribers with interesting, informative and fun content while earning an income in a way that does not ruin the readers’ experience. In some ways, this is a bigger challenge than getting the blog up and running. There is SO MUCH content out there with 100’s if not thousands of amazing, beautiful and informative blogs. Whew, I’ve certainly got my work cut out for me!

How You Can Help

Many people ask, “how can I show support for your blog?” The answer is really simple. Share it. At the end of every post are icons for social media – Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube. Simply clicking on those and sharing A Crafty Composition with your family and friends is an amazing and much appreciated show of support. If you don’t participate in social media, you can always recommend A Crafty Composition to your fellow creatives. Sometimes just sharing where you learned something or jotting down a web address is all the encouragement someone needs to check it out. Also, simply commenting on a post you like gives me so much motivation to keep working hard. I love hearing from you!

Let’s Reminisce

Over the past year I definitely have some favorite posts and the blog’s one year anniversary is a perfect time to highlight them. I also LOVE to hear what posts you’ve enjoyed the most so don’t forget to leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

Handmade Hand Warmers

I Love making these little hand warmers! They are quick to go together and an affordable yet heartfelt gift for anyone suffering from cold hands.

This delicious sweet and spicy Elote is one of my all time favorite summertime recipes. Perfect for a BBQ!

I absolutely love this cactus pin cushion project. It sits out on my work table and it’s happy colors just make me smile.

Remember Shrinky Dinks? My daughter and I had so much fun coloring and shrinking these down to create whimsical earrings and wine charms. She has since made over 60 pair of shrinky dink earrings!

Sometimes my posts aren’t about crafting or making things…not directly anyway. This post is about one of the more poignant lessons I’ve learned.

Actually, as I scroll through all 66 posts there are so many I’ve enjoyed. I look forward to another year of writing, creating and hopefully… inspiring. Don’t forget to tell me what you like the most (or the least) about this past year’s posts. Thank you so very much for being a part of my Crafty Compositions and celebrating our first year. As always…

Sharing is caring!

Thank you Tania! I seriously don’t know if I would have started the blog had you not been so kind as to share your expertise. Here’s to a great future for both of our blogs!

I would add a couple other favorites:
Your drink recipes – love that you list your favorite ingredients.

Congratulations on One Year!! (it’s gone by fast!) I especially loved the chair you did as well as your craft ideas and decorating ideas (and your kitty, Maisy). I’m looking forward to seeing the posts in your Second Year.

Thank you so much Vikki. It really has gone by quickly. I’m super pleased with how the chair turned out too and who can resist sweet kitty paws?…and whiskers…and noses… Kitties in general. Thank you so much for your support. You always are full of encouragement and kindness.
