Small Scale Crafting

Happy Monday friends! It seems I’ve been involved in some very time consuming projects lately. I got absolutely obsessed with making drinking shrubs for about a week. So much fun and very delicious. If you haven’t already done so, check out my quick YouTube video: How to Make a Shrub.  I also completed a handmade stationery project for a Mother’s Day gift and of course, there’s the DIY work table. Yes… the work table is proving to be a continual challenge thanks to parts that don’t fit and back ordered laminate. Therefore, I think it’s time to work on a few small scale craft projects.

From 2005 to 2011, I co-owned a scrapbook/paper arts store in Reno, NV. Those were six amazing years full of fun, friendship and creativity. Consequently, I own A LOT of scrapbook, stamping, and mixed media supplies. Like…a ridiculous amount! So, I really try to incorporate things I already own into my current projects. This morning I pulled out my box of rub-ons and some leftover Project Life journaling cards to create a few De-Stress Cue Cards.

Making De-Stress Cue Cards

Why do I need cue cards? Well, because I get stressed about things and when I get stressed, I get anxious and when I get anxious I clinch my jaw and forget to breath and over think things. Cue cards are a visual reminder for me to release my stress, take some good breaths and quiet my mind. It’s like having someone with me through out the day, tapping me on my shoulder and saying “Hey, your holding your breath. Release & breathe”.

While my scrapbook supplies were out, I decoupaged a few wood pendants. I think I’ll incorporate them into a playful necklace with tassels and wood beads. These beautiful baubles from Osofreejewellry on Etsy provide great design inspiration.

I’m also on the lookout for something creative to do with these three ceramic pots. They have a lovely matte finish and are about 4.5″ tall; perfect for herbs or succulents.

I think painting the bottom half of them could be fun. Like this from Simply Grove

It’s so wonderful that inspiration is just a click away!

Well, I’m off to place my de-stress cue cards in a few key places. I think one in the car, one in the kitchen (where I always try to do two or three things at once) and definitely one on my computer. Have a fabulous week and as always,

Sharing is caring!

I think your stress cards are a Great idea, and you made them so beautiful too. I love the “wood pendants” too; I can see them as great tassels on……anything. Like those “belly baskets” that are so popular. You always come up with good ideas; can’t wait to see what’s next.
