Card Making Mojo

Hi There! We just returned from a fun long weekend in Austin, Texas. Ever been? Well, it was my first time and pretty much everything you’ve heard about fantastic restaurants, live music and a little weirdness (a good kind of weirdness) is true. Austin is kind of like a sweatier (94 degrees and 65% humidity), dustier, more bad-ass version of Portland, Oregon. Of course, the Republic of Texas Biker Rally taking place one street up from our hotel room probably influenced the bad ass part. SURPRISE! Anyway, we totally enjoyed it and would love to go back. . . when it’s a bit cooler. So, right now, I just gave myself a little heart jump. I just realized THIS Sunday is Father’s Day. Yep, THIS SUNDAY! That means, I have got to get my card making mojo on!! The gifts are ready to go BUT I have NO cards (dun dun dun) and it absolutely kills me to spend over $5 per card at the store. Thankfully, I have a ridiculous stash of scrap paper and a fun little book I’ve been wanting to use; 150 Love Notes to Make Your Nearest & Dearest So Dog-Gone Happy, (is that not the best title ever?!) Playing with paper makes me so Dog Gone Happy so it seemed appropriate.

Well, I hope you have found at least a little card making inspiration above. I ended up with 6 new cards and used nothing but my at-home stash. I just love having a supply of miscellaneous cards at the ready… it makes me feel so very organized (in a phffff, if you only knew I have shirked all my other duties and just played with paper today kind of way). Have you gotten your card making mojo on lately? Please share – we love sharing…

You always make great cards. These went together really fast using those love notes. Thanks for checking it out!

I love getting home-made cards. Those I save, while the store-bought ones just seem to go away. These are much more special.

I agree Vikki. Sometimes I put the inside message on a separate piece of paper so the recipient can resend the card. I love the idea of one card floating around to different people with different sentiments.

Love the cards! I have made them before, it’s fun! I used some vintage cards once and spruced them up and repurposed parts of them onto newer cards.

Great idea Tania. I’ve done that with some vintage postcards and they were too fun!
