Paint Poured Pots

I know. You’d think I’ve boarded the gardening crazy train this month. It’s hard not to think of growing and planting during this time of the year. Playing in the dirt is good for the soul – and so is playing with paint. Acrylic Paint Pours; not just for canvas anymore. First we did pours on rocks in the Gorgeous Art Rocks post. Then it was the paint poured ceramic hearts HERE and now it’s all about the POTS

Small pots, tall pots, skinny pots, wide pots – it doesn’t matter the shape or the color because we are going to make them gorgeous!

Normally I go on and on about how to do stuff. It’s because I’m excited about you being excited to make things. And… I really, really, really want your stuff to turn out nicely . . . so we can all get more excited about making more stuff! See. There is a method to my madness – or a madness to my method. Either way, this week, I’m giving your readers a break and we are doing it all via video!

Woohoo… bring out the popcorn. Orville Redenbacher’s Tender White – simply the best!

Okay, so if you ever watched one of my video tutorials (I have over a dozen on the Crafty Composition YouTube Channel) you know I’m a bit shy. I never show my face and I don’t talk. Well – I’ve decided to break one of those habits. I stretched out the ole’ vocal cords for this one – and just as I thought, I sound like a twelve-year-old slurping up helium. What is that?! Why do we ALL hate the way we sound on tape. It’s a strange phenomenon with undoubtedly some phsycho-babble explanation but for this project, it was simply faster to step up and do the talkin’.

So without further ado – A VIDEO by A Crafty Composition: Poured Paint Pots

What do you think? Are you ready to do some paint flinging!! I have two words for you – TARP and PAPER TOWELS (okay, that’s three words). Otherwise, just go for it. Here are a few additional tips that I forgot in the video Your shopping links for the supplies are below that (with the required affiliate disclaimer of course). If you’ve already done the Art Rocks, you probably have most of the supplies already. So, here we go . . .

TIP #1: Pick no more than 4 colors (one being white) and think about color blending when you place your paint. EX: yellow and blue make green and not usually pretty green – army green.

Love this blue and yellow marbling!

TIP #2: Prep your pot with white primer or white matte spray paint

TIP#3: Let your pot dry 24 hours, then spray with semi gloss sealer. Add some felt to the bottom if it will sit on wood furniture.

Paint some kindness rocks with your leftover paint.

Thank you Tania. See – I think you sound fine on tape. I swear our ears hear ourselves differently. It’s really hard to speak clearly and not babble on and find the right words on the spot and try not to say umm too often. Plus I ADD talk – I say half a thought and then I jump to another thought – or get distracted by shiny things. LOL Oh well.
