Rock Painting From A Coloring Book

Hello lovelies! This is just a quick post to tell you about my new FAVORITE coloring book for rock painting. A few weeks back I did an in-depth video explaining how to trace and transfer an image from a piece of paper (coloring book, wrapping paper or printed from internet) onto a rock. The link to this video (and it’s shorter cousin) is at the end of this post because what I really want you to focus on right now is this . . .

Lulu Mayo’s Darling Coloring Book, A Million Sloths

Lulu Mayo A Million Sloths

I purchased A Million Sloths a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to go through it. It is FULL of funny, sweet images PERFECT for this trace and transfer rock painting method. Let’s take a peek.

Of course, given the title A Million Sloths, there are a LOT of sloths. Sloths playing trumpets, sloths wearing hats and checkered pants, baby sloths, mama sloths, daddy sloths . . . a LOT of sloths. But, there are also other adorable creatures like pandas, bunnies, mushroom-capped elf creatures, an occassional kitty, birds and ladybugs. Additionally, you’ll find an abundance of lushy leaves, flowers, and other botanical goodies plus some funky patterned clouds and general comical cuteness..

AND many are already the perfect size for rocks!

So even if you get tired of coloring sloths there are plenty of other adorable images to trace, transfer and color. Oh yeah, you don’t have to put these delightful images on rocks – you can just color them . . . in the book like Lulu Mayo probably intended . . . , OR how about using them as an embroidery pattern. Oh MY GOODNESS! The possibilities are endless! Here are a few I colored this week (which is why this blog post is so short!)

I think these rocks are going to be perfect for the next batch of rocks going to the Children’s Hospital.

So What if Sloths Aren’t Your Thing?

You’re in luck! Lulu Mayo has six other equally adorable coloring books. I want them all! And here’s a little tip . . . I am just starting out and I need step by step instructions on how to trace and transfer images on rocks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for checking out the blog Susan. Did you check out the two YouTube videos at the bottom of the post? One is much shorter (3 minutes-ish) and the other is much more in depth (about 16 minutes). The longer one also has closed caption. The best thing to do is just jump in and get started. You will problem solve as you go – and of course, reach out if you have specific questions.

I hope this helps. Don’t forget – have fun!
